Sometimes the floorplan of your kitchen requires you to be creative. That’s certainly the case in this room from Select Kitchens, where the team had to create space for cooking, cleaning, storage and a meals zone all on the island.
If you like thinking outside the box, this week’s kitchens is the one for you. What can you do when the room is filled with bright beautiful windows with a gorgeous fireplace in the middle of the room? The answer is all Island. The Island bench started gaining popularity some years ago and we have not looked back. Our Improvements seem to come every year with waterfall stone ends, seating for stools, upstands, floating centrepieces and dazzling feature stone finishes and huge counter lever benches. Your options keep coming.
All-In-One
So Island, Island, Island was the solution here. We created a short run of tall cabinets along the end wall for fridge and pantries. The rest to be accommodated in the Island. Hamptons style with carefully detailed features in the Panels, columns, Doors and Drawer fronts. The Polytec Keimbah was the final Door selection which has an intricate form. So we added an extra dimension in the solid columns at each end of the Island with protruding square beading separating the rails. All this is possible when you choose a kitchen company capable of fully customized cabinetry.
An Abey Chambord Louis Butler’s Fireclay sink was the only way to go for a masterpiece Island like this. It includes a ribbed front in keeping with the high level of detailed required by this design.
7 meters of stone
The Natural stone is breathtaking on this Island Bench that stretches 7.5 meters in length. Their cooking end is fitted with an ASKO HIG1995AD Pro Series cooktop offering the best of Induction Cooking and Gas option. An AEG BPK722910M 90cm Under bench Oven to fit those large entertaining pans. A fully integrated Siemens dishwasher was fitted with a matching Polytec Keimbah front. The highlight of design on this Island is the lack of an obtrusive Rangehood overshadowing the cooktop. We chose a Sirius 1100mm Ceiling Cassette SLT960 EM Range Hood which fits almost flat with the ceiling. This clever choice keeps the room open and full of life.
The other end has ample seating for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or just “picking and talking” with friends and family.
